5 Spring Activities to Do With Your Kids

Spring is almost here. It’s hard to believe with many parts of the country still seeing snowflakes. It’s time to start preparing for the activities you want your family to do this spring.
Spring is a time where baseball comes back after being gone for so long so activity number one is taking your family to the ballpark. It is always fun to get out and watch a great baseball game. Packages are available for families at most major league baseball parks. For example in Pittsburgh, the Pirates offer a Slice 4 Pack which includes:

  • Four (4) tickets to any Monday-Thursday Pirates home game (excluding Opening Day, April 2)
  • One (1) large, one-topping pizza from Slice on Broadway at PNC Park
  • Four (4) 16 oz. fountain drinks

This package is available for $100. You can check your local MLB team website at MLB.com for more info. Also check out the AA teams in your area as well.

Now that you have your baseball the number 2 spring activity to do is to get outside and head to the park. Spring is a great time to go hiking, fishing, or even take the boat out on the lake. Get the family outside and exercise. Make sure you have good hiking shoes (a good pair of tennis shoes will do) I love my Sketchers. They are comfortable and provide great support. When you go hiking make sure you have your snacks, plenty of water, and wear comfortable clothes.

Number 3 on our Spring to do list is planting a garden. Gardening is so much fun and a great activity to do as a family. Sit down and map out what foods your family loves to eat. In our house, we love lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers. Then head to your local greenhouse and grab the seeds to get started planting. This is a fun activity that the whole family can get involved in.

Number 4 on our spring to do list is to have a scavenger hunt. I love this idea as it combines the hiking with adventure. What kids don’t love a great adventure? Print up your cards, laminate them and place them in a plastic ziplock baggie. Then when you get to your destination pass them out to your children. Have fun exploring nature and spending time together as a family.

Our final spring to do list item is go to a farmer’s market. Growing up I loved to go to the farmer’s market with my parents. We always met such wonderful people and I learned so much about food. Most farmer’s markets are filled with local farmers who have delicious produce, crafters who have beautiful things to sell, and great music. My favorite farmers market is the one in Moscow, Idaho. The best way to find the times for your local farmers market is to check your chamber of commerce website.

I hope this article has given you some ideas on what to do with your family this spring. We’d love to hear your ideas of what’s on your spring bucket list as well so drop us a line in the comments to tell us what is your favorite activity to do as a family in the spring.
