Former Bold and the Beautiful actress Cindy Ambuehl embarks on a new journey this month as she launches her new fashion line on QVC. This new line which will feature clothing for women of all ages, sizes, and lifestyles, which is exclusive only to QVC. Cindy took the opportunity to sit down with us and chat about the new line, her career, and how being a mom has changed her life.

She first got started in the fashion design business in college. “ I modeled my way through college. I used to go there, and I would work with the designer, and I would be the model that would stand there, and she would put the clothes on me, and then she’d take out an inch here and an inch there, and I would tell her if I was fine or if I wouldn’t like this pucker here, and I’d work with this designer and this patternmaker. I did this for six years. It was a form of the modeling that I was doing, but it was great money and it was actually a wonderful extra way for me to pay through college. It really gave me an insight into what goes into making a full blouse…or a little tee shirt. I was really surprised by it. There’s so much that goes into it. It always really fascinated me. And when I was in college and studying business, I guess I always had an interest in it and love for it.”, says Cindy.
While Cindy has only studied design in college as a woman she looks at every woman and knows what she likes them wearing. “I know what looks good on them. When you’re sitting in a mall, and you watch girls go by, you know what looks good on them and what doesn’t. You know, for the smaller, younger girl, she can wear that, but the next girl can’t, but you can see what looks good and what you like, and that’s really the way I gauge it. Also, I have an amazing, but very expensive, top forecasting service that you can buy, and it’s straight out of London…and I subscribe to it. It tells you everything that will be happening next year here for every season…fabrications, colors, styles…everything that you would need to know. So, if you really want to be up on your wardrobe, you can subscribe to these services and it tells you exactly what’s happening next year.”
The forecasting service called Faces is one of the top Fashion Forecasting services. “It’s the same forecasting service that major designers use that you see out there, and you’re paying ten times more for it [the finished design from major designer?]. I’m doing the same styles, and I’m using the same colors, same fabrications, and you can buy it on QVC for a fraction of the price.”
Her new line which will debut on QVC later this month, is a line for women of all ages, all sizes, and all lifestyles. The line is a hip, fashion-forward line, without being too young and and trendy, without having the rise so low that women, unless they’re 28 and size 2, can wear without their tush hanging out the back. It’s nothing like that. It’s hip and fashion-forward clothing for a size 2 to a size 3X. All the way up to a size 3X. So, it’s really great for larger size women also, who feel they want to shop somewhere besides Lane Bryant [who think?] I really wish I could wear something that’s fashionable, but fits me. Now they can. Also, a lot of these women, no matter what size they are, their lifestyle doesn’t really allow them to, because you can’t go into a store without paying $150 for a pair of jeans. These jeans are going for $39, and they are exactly like what you’ll be seeing in any of the expensive boutiques for over $100. Fabulous jeans…I mean, the quality of the denim…it has stretch denim in it that’s really comfortable and keeps its shape all day. It has beautiful chrome work on the belt buckle…the belt loops. I have jeweled buttons on the pants. I mean they’re very, very hip, and they’re really cute, and they’re a great price, and they have a great fit.
Besides designing jeans, she also has two beautiful skirts in her collection. “I have one that’s called the broomstick skirt. You’ve probably seen a lot of it now…that Bohemian feel, that flowy skirt. I’ve got one [broomstick] skirt…we’re doing it in three colors: fuchsia , turquoise [?], and an apple green. It’s beautiful, it’s long, and it’s very flowy. In fact, I wore one of the samples one morning to breakfast. I got four compliments, in that full restaurant, just from wearing my skirt. It has satin ribbon that goes through it.”, says Cindy.
“I also have another skirt that goes just past the knee, and it has beautiful hand embroidery through the whole thing…all hand embroidered…it’s gorgeous. I have a pair of stretch twill pants, I have knit tops, I have woven tops, great blouses, and I have a great jacket that has a beautiful butterfly broach on it. “
Her first collection or two is strictly exclusive to QVC. You can look for it on July 15th. Check QVC.com for local listings.
