Every year I try to make Valentines Day a special holiday for my kids and for my husband. Here are just a few ideas you can use to make your Valentines Day a special one on very little money.

1. Bake homemade sugar cookies and use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut them out. Using pink and red frosting with red cinnamon candies to decorate them.

2. Decorate a small tree with hearts and lights. The kids really love this one. My kids love making heart shaped butterflies, Valentines people, and chains to fill the tree. It's become a tradition in our house that the kids just can't live without
3. Wilton has a great Chocolate Kit for Valentines Day which will run you about $8-$10 depending on where you live. The kit is fun to do with your kids as you make cute candies from Valentines Day lollipops, Heart shaped candies and more.
4. Make Valentines day cards out of construction paper. The paper you can get from your local dollar store and then decorate your hearts with ribbon, stickers, buttons, etc. It's fun and gets the kids to be very creative.
5. Cut out hearts out of foamies. You can find foamies even at the dollar store now days. Write a simple message on each heart. The message can be as simple as I love you, Be Mine, I appreciate you, etc. When you are finished you can add glitter to the hearts with your Glitter paints found in your fabric and craft store. These are cute and something that you will cherish.
These are just some of the many ideas we have gathered but we want to hear yours. What do you do to make Valentines Day special for your family? Email your ideas to us and you may find your idea published here.
